Let’s be honest, there’s no such thing as a “perfect” morning routine. However, there’s an ideal morning routine. The one that takes you from hitting the snooze five too many times to waking up feeling energized and ready to tackle the day. The hardest part is starting, but once you do it consistently, it’ll soon become second nature. So let’s get into it, the 5 elements to creating your “perfect” morning routine.
Choosing to begin your morning with a short task that you can accomplish in under 5 minutes will allow you to build momentum. Who doesn’t love starting their day with a feeling of accomplishment? I know I do. Some examples of quick wins include:
Making your bed
Tossing in a load of laundry
Doing your skincare routine
Drinking a glass of water
Having a little dance party
Regardless of your religious and or faith beliefs, each and every one of us has the ability to tap into our highest self through spiritual. What this looks like however, differs from person to person. Find a practice the feels right to you, as you connect with your higher power. Some suggested practices include: prayer, meditation, manifestation, affirmations, journaling, and card pulling.
Note: This isn’t necessarily a workout. The movement portion of your morning routine is a way for you to actively wake up your system as you prepare for the day ahead. Stretching, doing yoga flow, or even taking your dog for a short walk, are all ways that you can commit to moving your body in the morning.
Regardless of what life throws at you, there’s always something to be grateful for. Start each morning by listing 3-5 things that you’re thankful to have. This is a great way to remind yourself of how you’ve been blessed in your life and can also serve as an opportunity for reflection.
Don’t overwhelm yourself with a long to-do list. Set one intention for the day and break it down into 3 tasks. Be realistic with how much time it’ll take you to accomplish each one. The key is to set yourself up for success, not a failure.
